The brief
We'd made the Snoopy prop last year for Goodwoof and they asked us to store the house we'd made for him to sit on so that this year they could use it again but with a different Snoopy sitting on top. This year it was to be Snoopy Literary Ace, complete with a sitting Snoopy sculpture and typewriter.

The Process
For the second year in a row, Goodwood asked us to make another Snoopy sculpture to sit on top of the house we made the year before and had stored until now, ready for his second appearance at their annual Goodwoof event. As we'd already made the house the previous year, we just had to make a new Snoopy, this time they wanted the Literary Ace Snoopy who comes with his own typewriter. As usual, the official Snoopy guardian, Peanuts, were involved throughout as Snoopy's image is highly guarded, and so we had to liaise with them every step of the way to ensure Charles M. Schulz's iconic character was made to their exact specifications. Everything had to be passed by Peanuts before we could continue, which meant having to wait for their official sign off at regular intervals before we could move on. Luckily, we had the old Snoopy prop stored and so could use that as a guide and so there weren't too many delays.
We sculpted both Snoopy and his typewriter in polystyrene and hard-coated with fibreglass, then bonded metal spigots in the base of both in exact positions to allow us to install them onto the existing roof of his house. Once both were hard-coated we had a few days of sanding and finishing to have them ready to be painted. A few touch-ups of Snoopy's house and we were ready to deliver everything on site the day before the event.

The Result
As usual, Snoopy received a lot of attention and photo opportunities for the people attending Goodwoof and we had lots of positive feedback from our client, Goodwood, and the general public alike.
