The brief

It's hard to miss our giant football and desk when you walk into the flagship Adidas store on Oxford Street to buy your Predator football boots, the glossy white ball and red desk stand out nicely with interesting graphics to catch your eye and a striking red cabinet for the staff to keep the shoes secure.

Prop process images

  1. Polystyrene ball with a cut out for the desk to slot in before it was moulded.
  2. Pouring the first layer of plaster on the ball to mould it to create a shell to cast from.
  3. Preparing the plaster mould with release agent for the fibreglass cast.
  4. Releasing the football cast from the plaster mould.
  5. The desk cabinet and its internal shelves before the doors were attached.
  6. The ball painted glossy and finished and drying in the spray room.
  7. The Perspex desk top placed into the recess, peeling off the protective wrapper.
  8. Ball attached to the desk in the workshop.

The Process

From a sculpted polystyrene ball we made a plaster mould which we then cast a fibreglass ball into, the ball had a section removed for the desk to slot into the side, we designed and CNC cut the desk, complete with sliding doors that locked and internal shelving the desk was finished in a striking glossy red paint. A recess in the top of the desk allowed a giant Perspex graphic panel to be placed in. The ball was finished in a glossy white, and finished with vinyl graphics . The desk was installed in the flagship Adidas store on Oxford Street.

The Result

The ball and desk with Perspex graphic top looked great in its final position in the shop with the lights reflecting against the glossy finish.
