Introduction to About Us
Spur creative was set up in 2006 by Phil, the Managing Director, a scenic artist painting sets and backdrops for many West End theatrical shows.
The business was a very ad hoc affair for the first year and Phil, working alone, would rent various spaces depending on which project was on at the time.
The first large project was to make 55 two-metre-high flamingos for Dubai Duty Free and it was after successfully making and shipping these on time that Phil realised he needed to get his own premises, so a small workshop was rented in Mayfield, East Sussex. In 2010, Steve, who is now General Manager of Spur Creative, joined the business and not long after, Kayleigh, now the head scenic painter, joined Spur.
Together, with dedicated freelance painters and makers, we outgrew the small space and so, in 2011, we moved to our current premises, a 4000 square feet purpose-built unit. It was while here that Tomo turned up on the doorstep asking for work. He was instantly liked and years later, all four of us are still together, working with our regular freelance base.
From those humble beginnings we now work with international brands and ship our work all over the world. We never forget those early days and are grateful to still have the same passion for making quality props and offering exceptional customer satisfaction.
We are a dedicated team of professionals who have a long working history and many years of experience between us. Our love and passion for what we do means that clients come back to us again and again. A testament to this is that some of our very first clients are still with us 16 years later.
